my rant of the day

i remember a while back, i;d watch American politics for entertainment, and watch boring , sometimes silly Canadian politics, to see stuff get done. Oh how those days are gone. The Americans are still entertaining, but now, if you don;t keep an eye on Harper, you'll never get a clue to what he's up to, and sometimes an eye isn't enough.
 For my entire life, Canada has been a progressive country to live in, even the conservatives were more left then the American Dem's, but now, in some cruel twist of fate, we have been shackled with a government of right winged zealots with no way ( it seems anyway) to stop the train.
 And to make it even more infuriating, there doesn't seem to be enough people out there that care. People are being manipulated daily by the people they've elected, and the opposition, being a minority have no way to get there perspective across while one by one, those things that make Canada ,Canada get cut back, or slashed out of existence.
 The government tells us that "it's all for the economy" but, the economy isn't what makes Canada , Canada. In my opinion, what makes Canada, Canada is;
Our ability to remain a recourse based economy, but still kept the environment important and at the forefront, I'm not saying we were ahead of our time, but we weren't free falling!
 Our labour laws that let unions and management reach their own deals, not jump in and impose deals smaller then the original companies offer.
 and, come budget time, you could st down in front of the TV and with little help, figure out how this budget will effect you, not wait for the secrets to leak out and the jobs to disappear.
health care was everyone's responsibility, not just the provinces.
it was a shared opinion that science and scientists were important tools that helped guide a governments opinions, not " tools of the devil to kill gods will".
 I could go on, but all three people that will read this are probably getting bored, so in closing,I love my country, and I'm so sad that it's disappearing before my eyes, and to make it worse, i have 2 years before i can do anything about it.https://www.facebook.com/mark.e.lyons
